What Is Life at Haven of Hope Like?
Haven of Hope is a 3,000-square-foot home strategically located in the heart of Lamar County, planned to welcome about six to eight women at a time.
When you’re not at work or school, part of your day will be spent in classes next door at Paris Pregnancy Care Center.
Women who are planning to parent are welcome to reach out, and women considering adoption may also be eligible to stay in the home.
We currently have one residential room available for an expectant mom with a child. The other three shared rooms are for expectant moms only.
There are three shared rooms that consist of twin beds in each room. There is also a family room for an expectant mom who has a child. Nutritional meals will be provided along with the assistance clients may receive to purchase additional food and personal necessities.
Who Can Apply?
Haven of Hope is here for women who are pregnant and facing housing instability or the risk of homelessness.
You may be a good fit for the program if you:
- Are currently pregnant
- Are seeking stable housing during pregnancy
- Are willing to participate in required program activities, classes, mentoring, and case management
- Are interested in working toward greater stability and independence
You don’t need to know whether you qualify before reaching out. The initial inquiry is simply a way for our team to get to know you, your pregnancy, your current housing situation, and the kind of support that would help most.
You must be 18 years of age or older to stay at Haven of Hope. Drug screenings and criminal background checks will be completed to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all residents. Our program is an 18-month program, and upon graduation, our prayer is that you will have achieved the tools and knowledge needed to create a healthy, stable, and hopeful future for you and your child.
What Happens After I Reach Out?
Getting started is simple. You’ll fill out an initial inquiry form with some basic information about your pregnancy, current housing situation, support system, school or training status, and how soon you may need a place to stay.
Once we’ve reviewed your form, the Maternity Home Specialist will reach out to you the way you’d most like to be contacted.
After the initial inquiry, if the team chooses to continue the application process, you will be sent the resident application to complete. You will be scheduled for an in-person interview with our team. After the team’s decision is made, you will undergo a drug screening and a background check. Once these requirements have been completed, you will be welcomed into your new home at Haven of Hope.
Completing the initial inquiry form does not guarantee admission into Haven of Hope.
Building Toward Independence
Haven of Hope is about more than a place to stay during pregnancy. It’s about helping you prepare for everything that comes after.
From the beginning, Paris Pregnancy Care Center envisioned a program that helps women gain practical skills, continue school or work, and move forward with greater financial stability and the resources to live independently.
Residents will have 18 months to work toward individualized milestones throughout their stay, developing the skills and confidence needed to transition successfully to independent living.
How Long Can I Stay?
Haven of Hope is an 18-month program. Residents may have the opportunity to continue to live at Haven of Hope as a Resident Assistant after the program has successfully been completed.
Residents are allowed to stay and successfully complete the 18-month program whether they come into the program at four weeks or 38 weeks.
Could Haven of Hope Be Right for You?
Maybe you need a place to stay soon, maybe you’re planning ahead for the months to come, or maybe you’re simply looking into what support is out there. Wherever you are, you can start by telling us a little about your situation.
